Q: Is there any financial
obligation to me for signing the
confidentiality agreement and getting
the information packet?
A: No! The confidentiality agreement
just prevents you from sharing the
information with other people who
haven’t signed the agreement. The packet
explains, among other things, the type
of financial obligations.
Q: Is the upfront cost really
less than $1.00 per appraisal?
A: In most cases yes. Unless you do very
few appraisals per year, the cost per
appraisal will probably be closer to
$.50 per appraisal. The manner of
bringing any litigation is to make it
possible and cost-effective for
appraisers to enforce their rights.
Q: How do we get our appraisals
to you for registration?
A: We will help you get the appraisals
into .PDF format. This will be your
responsibility. The appraisals can be
emailed to us or can be sent on a
recorded CD. We will discuss this with
you after we receive your signed
assignment letter. The assignment letter
comes in the introductory packet.
Q: Are appraisals really
protected by Copyright?
A: The only answer to this is Yes! The
Federal Court has already ruled that
they are. Many comments and “articles”
have been posted by people working for
companies who benefit from saying they
are not copyrightable. These are not
backed by the published law.
The other excuse is that even if a
commercial appraisal is protected,
residential appraisals are not. This is
also wrong. We will send you the
information to prove to an objective
lawyer that your residential appraisals
are subject to Copyright. Don’t fall for
the other nonsense. Your copyright is
too valuable to ignore. It is your
property. Like any other property—you
shouldn’t let someone steal it.
Your rights are like those of the people
in the recording business. Songs were
taken in violation of copyright laws and
the music industry recovered. People are
taking your appraisals without paying
you. It is the same. The real question
is what will you do about it? FMV gives
you a cost-effective method to recover
money legally owed to you.

Copyright is not just a symbol. It is
a Constitutional right so that your work
yields you the money—not the infringer
for theft of your work. |
